Children on the move is a project working to create a lasting record of evacuation in Staffordshire. Whether you were an evacuee or not, if you have an evacuation momory to share we would love to hear from you!

Peter Cotton

An evacuee called Ken was left on a bus in Chesterton with no billet family to take him in, so Peter cried until his mother took him home...

Peter Allen

Peter Allen was taken by his host because he was crying and about to set off the other children. Thankfully, he was very happy in his billet in Onecote and is still in touch with the family today.

Ken Maple

Ken was orphaned as a very young child. At the orphanage he was wrapped in a blanket and thrown down a shoot during an air raid. He was then evacuated to Admaston.
